Whining in the Bronx: Syllabus

Backpacking through Italy -- I'm the last guy. Typical Italian Vineyard to the right

Syllabus
Whining in the Bronx
Spring 2012

Description
In college? Same. Not a lot of money to spend on wine these days – tough economic times. Every bottle will be about $25 or less. I’ll tell you where the bottle was purchased (most likely the same place every time…) and what’s going on with the wine itself: where it’s from, year, and what makes it “different” from other wines. As you’ll see, wine gets its taste (and price) from a vineyard’s location in combination with some other key production factors.

As a local Italian woman once told me, “There are 3 stages of drinking wine: feeling light as bird, strong as a lion, and stupid like a jackass.” Hopefully this blog will get you to stage 3 but with some knowledge, not stupidity.

Required Items
Wine, wine opener, maybe a wine glass?

Objectives
1. Knowledge up on wine
2. Explore the crazy and “elite” culture surrounding wine and it’s production without being elitists ourselves
2. Drink wine

Requirements
1. Follow this blog because words have meaning, no?
